Last year, my girls and I enjoyed a free class from Craftsy because we purchased the DIY bundle. My oldest daughter chose Basics of Digital Photography. You can see her photography work in many of the pictures on my blog. My next daughter chose The Perfect Cupcake. Both classes were very beneficial to them and have enabled them to become more skilled in their craft. I love to see entrepreneurship in teens and even encourage it, and these classes have definitely given them the knowledge to pursue something they love and enjoy.

As an affiliate I received a free class to try. I chose Crochet: Basics and Beyond because I have always wanted to learn how to crochet. I'm particularly fond of the granny square and this class teaches me the granny square and includes instructions for more advanced techniques.
Do you know what else I love about Craftsy classes? The professional videos allow you to watch your classes on your own time. I was able to watch Sewing with Knits over a few nights after my kids were in bed. You can also watch the classes on your phone or tablet that you set up right by your work area. Pause and play as you need to. Or rewind and play back a tricky new skill. Also you can interact with other class members by asking and answering questions. And don't forget to take notes right on the video segment.
Another class that I recently enjoyed is Sewing Designer Jeans with Angela Wolf. I had my doubts in the beginning, but she really shows you how to make designer jeans with your home sewing machine. She offers all kinds of tips and tricks from distressing to professional finishes as well as tackling fit issues. I must say that I'm super inspired by this class and am ordering her boot cut jeans pattern and some denim to make my own jeans.
And every seamstress simply must have a tailor's clapper (non-affiliate link). Seriously. If you want professional finishes on your garments, you must press with a tailor's clapper. Pressing truly is the most important step in sewing. Proper pressing methods can take your sewing from OK to professional.
