I was so excited when I realized that my Yearly Membership also included the Schoolhouse Planners. I'm not much of a paper planner girl, but these planners are so thorough and you can print only the pages you want or need. I can see these planners being very beneficial to my older girls to keep track of their learning goals and accomplishments. It will also be very helpful to have all of their studies written down so that I will easily be able to write their high school transcripts.
There are a couple different ways to access all that is available on the site*. Things are organized both by grade level and by subject. This is beneficial because if I am looking for a lesson to supplement a science study, I can click on the science tab and then find something for each of the different learning levels for my kids. On the other hand if I just want to browse what is available for my middle schoolers, then I can do just that and click on the middle school studies.
Sometimes I like to just get on the site and click around to see what I can find. I have found some real treasures this way. Out of curiosity, I clicked on the music tab thinking, "I would love it if my kids could learn how to play a musical instrument." I was pleasantly surprised to find an entire series of guitar lessons taught by Jerry Jennings, who also happens to be a recording artist and performer as well as a teacher.
My oldest daughter had recently started expressing interest in playing the guitar. She borrowed a guitar and with the help of some friends at church she learned a few chords. She was also able to view and read the guitar lessons online at SchoolhouseTeachers.com, which helped her gain confidence. She played her first song on the youth worship team just this past Sunday. Obviously she still has a lot to learn, but I'm glad she will be able to accomplish learning how to play the guitar not just from friends, but also from the online course that she can access.
My son is a big science lover. But we haven't been able to be as consistent in teaching science as much as he'd like (and honestly I don't love science either). Once again I headed to the SchoolhouseTeachers.com site and began browsing under elementary science. I found a neat little series called Curious Science. These are fantastic little units about one topic. He chose to learn about quicksand and has enjoyed all that the unit has to offer.
I could go on and on about all of the class offerings that I have discovered--from Bible to music to math to chemistry and art, plus many, many more. I really don't think there are enough hours in the day to study all of the new things we want to study!
Oh and one last benefit that I can't forget to talk about. As part of our membership we have access to over 10,000+ videos on demand through Right Now Media. This includes a thorough and amazing children's video library (think: What's In the Bible and VeggieTales among others) as well as different Bible studies and seminars (for teens and adults). I actually feel ok leaving my kids with the app to discover something they would like to watch. Earlier in the semester the kids and I worked through the Amazing Grace study. It was truly amazing and we had some excellent conversations because of that study. I also viewed Have A New Kid By Friday and gleaned some valuable information from that seminar as well. As part of the membership, SchoolhouseTeachers.com also has worksheets that you can download to go along with some of the video content in Right Now Media.

I am an affiliate for Schoolhouse Teachers. I would never recommend a product that I myself didn't use and love. It is your responsibility to thoroughly check if a product is right for your family along with all costs and fees associated with that product. I shared my opinion in this post and how the site worked for us. This post includes affiliate links.
